Visual Experience and Well-Being
A substantial proportion of today's young people's daily experiences are mediated by digital technology and visual information. Many suspect media technology, especially social media, plays a negative role in young adults' psychological well-being, both cognitive and emotional (e.g., attention span, loneliness). Empirical evidence to confirm such suspicions is still nascent in scientific research. We are building an immersive experience lab to research the causal relation between visual experience and well-being, with the potential to develop augmented assistance tools to prevent mental health risks.
